Monrovia has announced its Distinctive Selections for. 2026, all to celebrate Monrovia’s 100th anniversary. Here are a few of my favorites:
Centennial Ruby™ Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Hokocentennial’)

This mophead hydrangea has deep red, long-lasting blooms from late spring into fall, and the flowers deepen in color as they age. It’s a compact plant, just three feet high and wide; it takes part sun and shade, and is hardy in zones 7-9. Deadhead the spent flowers, and it will also re-bloom.

Crimson Feather False Spirea (Sorbaria ‘Crimson Feather’)
What’s not to like about this selection? Deep red early growth with clusters of white blooms in mid-summer, with deciduous foliage fading to chartreuse and golden through the season. It reaches five feet tall and wide and requires little or no pruning. It takes full to part sun and and is hardy in zones 2-10. It needs to be sheltered from harsh afternoon sun, and watered deeply during its first growing season.

Eau de Parfum™ Bliss Rose
An unusual rose, with an orange hue in the center of the flower, fading to pink at the edges. The blooms are fragrant, and they repeat from early spring until frost. This rose requires full sun and it’s size is about 4’x4′. It’s hardy in zones 5-10, and can be pruned in late winter or early spring. Flowers are great for cutting.
